Very Hungry Caterpillar Fat Quarter Fizz

Begun in late 2015, when my son was 5, I am so relieved to have finally finished his bed quilt. And it's a big one. This twin sized quilt measures 72" x 90". The pattern is Fat Quarter Fizz by the Fat Quarter Shop.

The curtains are from before he was born. They matched his baby quilt.

I'm glad that I used the blue on the back so when he's tired of Very Hungry Caterpillar he can use the reverse side up. Fabric is all Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, made by Andover.

It's quilted with large square spirals with oval spirals in the center using Aurifil 50wt Marrakesh Variegated (#3817). I machine bound with the same thread.

I finished a much smaller version of this quilt back in 2016.

This was my UFO project chosen (#2) from my All People Quilt 2020 UFO Challenge list. I'm linking up to One Monthly Goal January Finish List. I wrote about this project in my OMG Goal post at the beginning of the month.

I'm also linking up to the Beauties Pageant and TGIFF.

Beautiful quilt. So pretty. And the blue is nice as well. I love the way you quilted it. I hope to do that soon. Enjoy your day! ????????????

Thank you, Patty! Once I find my UFO list I'll see what project has been picked for me this month. If I'm lucky it's one of the quilts I trimmed today that just needs binding. ;-)

You did it! It looks great and I am sure it will be on his bed for quite some time. The blue is perfect for when he needs a change! I have all my son's quilts for now - his baby, farm animals and map quilts. He has the one he went to college with - a jelly roll quilt.

Thank you, Kathleen! It was a lot of hours, but I'm so happy to have it done. It was quite rewarding to tuck him in last night.

Thank you, Anja. I really like the blue backing. So glad that many-year-ago-me chose that. The quilting was started quite a while back, so the backing was locked it. (This also unfortunately locked me into having to quilt it... soon after I started I regretted not sending it to a longarmer.)

Congratulations on finishing that quilt! I also like your photos, Sarah. Boy, that is one GREEN room! The quilt certainly works with it..and I love the blue backing.

He chose Martian Green paint during our remodel. I love it! (And I'm glad he chose a color that works with the quilt!) Thanks for visiting, Johanna.

  4. So cute! I love that Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric. My son has a wallhanging from a panel of that line that I made just before he was born. Love the blue on the back, and great that it gives your son options.

Thank you, Emily. There used to be more VHC decor in his room. The giant leaves from Ikea, and some wall art given to me at my baby shower for him. He's aged out of all that though. I'm glad he still appreciates the quilt.

I hope the feelings of guilt at how long it took me fade with time, but I am so glad to have it done! And it makes me want to finish more WIPs (I don't actually usually call them UFOs). Thanks for visiting, and for the support!
