Another lovely floral photo, Lorinda picked Trina's Tulip Festival photo from Mount Vernon, Washington for this week's photo. I think you'll see my preference for green and purple in my choice of palette again, somewhat similar to what I chose last week. Only one of my solids is actually the same as last week, the Avocado Green. I really had to resist using the same fabric I chose last time. (Bonus: This photo/palette also fits in with my #purplesewingchallenge for the month.)

I created my palette with Palette Builder 2.1 by Play Crafts.

I feel like my fabrics are a little nutty. I chose that adorable tadpole fabric first. Thinking they look like little fish, I thought I might try to lean ocean (hence the anchors). In the end I really struggled with the light green, looking for the right color and wanting a larger scale print. Next time, my goal is going to be to start with a multi-colored print containing colors from my palette. I just really love my blenders!

A long, long time ago I started a Swoon quilt. I cut out the first blocks almost a year ago. I finished my first block and then the project moved to the back burner. I decided that Sarah's 4x7 Sewing Challenge was the perfect excuse to focus my daily selfish sewing time on my Swoon quilt. I'm happy to report that in the first week, I've finished two more blocks. These were both already in progress at the start of the month, but with 65 pieces per block, these 24" blocks take a while. You can see my progress pics on Instagram.

I've chosen my pairs of fabrics for my next four blocks. Today's "sewing time" will be spent cutting. :-)

I'm linking up to the Week 1 Progress linkup for the 4x7 Sewing Challenge.

I love Trina's pic for this week's photo, and not just because it fits in with my #purplesewingchallenge for the month. This is Lorinda's photo, Hydrangea. I challenged myself to use more than five colors this week and started with a variety of purples. I created my palette with Palette Builder 2.1 by Play Crafts. I realize that I continue to stick mostly to blenders, but I'm happy with the variety of patterns in these fabrics. My mom has a purple and green room in her house, so this palette reminds me of that room.
