It's been a year of colorful minis. I've participated in quite a few swaps. At the moment I'm only signed up for one in 2016. I'm going to try to resist joining a bunch in favor of some larger finishes in the coming months. As a quick review of 2015, I'm sharing my five most visited 2015 blog posts here.

My latest Instagram mini quilt swap was Kate's Rainbow Mini Swap (#rainbowminiswap). Talk about a lovely bunch of rainbow wonderfulness! Nearly 600 people participated and it's been such a happy hashtag to follow. (If you aren't already following me on IG, find me at @sarahmgoer)

I was making for Mary, who likes modern brights, geometrics, and typography and dislikes pastel. I decided to use my quilt block (tutorial coming soon... just need to write it up and find a couple testers) that I designed for Antioxidant Delight to make her quilt, but with no borders, so I'd stick to the 24" x 24" maximum size restriction. I chose an assortment of rainbow colored blenders for this rendition and named it "Boxed In Rainbows". I struggled with wanting to do some epic free motion quilting, but in the end I took inspiration from my son's quilt and did edge to edge straight lines "wherever" until I felt done.

I bought the amazingly colorful background fabric from a vendor at the SCVQA quilt show. I'm trying to track down more of it, because I wish I'd bought the whole bolt!

I find it fun to put together some extras to go with my swap packages. Sticking with the rainbow theme, I included skittles, rainbow colored magnets, a little airplane and rainbow pin and a rainbow selection of note cards. I also included a spool of heavy weight aurifil thread, some wonder clips and a selection of tea, including my favorite, Wild Sweet Orange.

All wrapped up and ready to go:

Mary received her package this week. Now I'm waiting patiently for mine to arrive. ;-)

So I've been doing this for a year now! It's a weird milestone in that it both feels like time has flown and that I've been doing this forever. I'm having such a great time and really enjoy interacting with my readers. Thank you all for being here. It wouldn't be nearly as fun without you!

This is my 127th blog post. I've decided I'll share a little of what I'm up to and some of my top posts. This month I've been teaching my son how to quilt. That's been super fun so far. I'm loving participating in mini swaps on Instagram. I'm trying to finish up some WIPs (ya know, so I can start some new projects!). Most importantly and excitedly I've been able to regularly work on my projects and I finished 11 quilts in the last year since starting the blog! For reference, my first 10 quilts took me over a decade. (gasp!) I'm excited by all the inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram and so many awesome blogs!

So what am I working on this week? I've cut out all my pieces for this fun rainbow inspired mini for the Rainbow Mini Swap on IG. Here's my palette.

My giant wonky star quilt is pinned and ready to quilt. (It's about time... it only took me 5 months to make the quilt sandwich!) It'll be awesome to knock it into the finished column next week.

And my newest quilt project: here's my Blogiversary Scrap Attack mini quilt top that I'll be giving away in my Grow Your Blog post this weekend in honor of my 1-year Blogiversary. Please come back Saturday night for your chance to win! (Pattern is Scrap Attack by Diane Bohn.)

Here are some of my most popular blog posts in the last year.
