As I've been folding and organizing all my stash, I've come to the realization there are some holes. I'm terribly low on yellows and oranges, but I have virtually no neutrals other than black and white prints. So when The Intrepid Thread advertised that they had moved stuff into the clearance section and had 1000+ items in the list, I decided to focus my efforts by filling one of those voids. I keep seeing beautiful quilts with grey fabrics, so I just thought I needed to have some. I'm so delighted with these and can't wait to use them. What's your favorite color(s) to pair with grey?

I'm more of a taupe fan, but I'm realizing there is almost no discernible grey in my house. However, it can be found around here in metal: stainless steel, pewter, silver, and in small areas of the few prints around. My son's room is painted a very light grey and it is accented by a saturated red window blind and bed skirt. So I guess I will say grey and red!
I also like blue, green and grey. Yellow and grey. When done right, pink and grey. And a greyed out 'white' pattern as 'White' works when shading an white is too bright.
Thanks, Sarah, you gave me a good think here!

Post authorLots of great ideas! (I intend to do our master bathroom in purple and grey -- our bedroom is purple.)

I love all of your new gray pieces. They're really nice. I think that blue or red look nice with gray.
sarah
Post authorBoth are great ideas... I have a ton of blue in my stash, but it's not so modern. Maybe I can pair it with some of my new greys. Hm...

Occasional inventory is a great device! Some holes are from our neglect, but others are from fabric companies' ignoring colors for a time. If not the companies, then the shops.

Post authorI know for me I LOVE bold, bright colors, so I tend to fail at having neutrals around. There's not much in the way of neutrals (white, white-on-white, black, black and white, tans, greys (until now) etc.) in my stash and low-volume prints is another hole that I want to do something about soon. But first, more sewing... Thanks for visiting!

I did the same thing! Love Intrepid Thread and I stocked up on a few yellows and oranges amongst other things :)
sarah
Post authorOh! I need yellows and oranges too... I had to restrain myself. :-) Dangerously, The Intrepid Thread's shop is about a 20 minute drive for me. They have SO MUCH beautiful fabric!

I'm slowly trying to get a well rounded stash too. I have a bit of orange but my yellow is low. I don't get it because I love yellow. Love your new neutral collection. I have been eyeing a few of those too.
sarah
Post authorMaybe you love yellow so much that when you have it, you use it! :-)

I made the same mistake with that print but in blue :-)
Great selection of greys/neutrals. They will be great stash additions.

Post authorIt's the second time that I've made this "home decor" mistake twice now. When will I learn? :-) Thanks for visiting.

Beautiful grays! I love gray, and it's a bit over represented in my own stash. I think gray pairs well with almost everything! (If you check out some of my finishes on my blog, you'll see I don't mind throwing some gray around pretty often ;))
sarah
Post authorI'll definitely take a look, Bria. Thanks! Right now I've gotta finish up on a deadline first. :-)
