I bought some pretty fabric. I had been thinking and thinking about this great line of blender dot fabric that I'd seen at a local quilt shop many months ago. I've been kicking myself for not getting some. I have Adrienne to thank for blogging about purchasing some of the Aboriginal Dots fabric so I knew the name of it and could finally obtain some for my stash.
I also bought two fabrics to add as borders onto my giant wonky star quilt.
Oh! My Spoonflower fabric also came. It's for round two of my quiet book page swap. My sister created the digital file for me. Thanks, Jenn!
In an effort to minimize the number of colors of thread I have around here I've decided to start piecing in light and dark neutrals. So, I invested in large spools of 50wt Aurifil Natural White (2021), Grey (2605), and Medium Grey (1158). Not very flashy, but I'm excited.

The Aboriginal dots are very classy; I really like them. Those batiks are going to be perfect for borders on your star quilt!

Definitely some fun prints here :). Have you used Aurifil before? My biggest challenge is keeping the bobbins sorted so I know which are polyester (for clothes) and which are Aurifil (for quilting). I suppose I should use cotton if my garment fabric is cotton, but I like the sturdiness of the polyester.

Post authorThank you. I started using Aurifil this year for Leah Day's Building Blocks Quilt Along and I've been really pleased with it on that project. For keeping bobbins with spools the best trick I've seen is using a pipe cleaner through the spool and bobbin and then twisted to hold them together.

I just started piecing with aurifil and I love it. I have only the medium/light grey but think I'd better get white and black as well. It is really nice to work with. The spools are huge so it lasts quite a while.
