Show Me Something Kickoff and Show Me Something Purple Linkup

Happy New Year! I'm writing today to introduce a new monthly linkup here at Sarah Goer Quilts. I hope you'll join in by sharing your work below. Read on for more info on Show Me Something and about January's theme: Purple!

One of my favorite parts of quilting has always been community. While this has changed in format over the years with the options currently available on the internet I've always enjoyed connecting to other quilters, sharing my work, and being inspired by what they have created. In recent years I've been further inspired by quilt challenges in a variety of ways. The monthly Show Me Something linkup is a combination of these two aspects of my quilting world.

Each month I will pick a category for the month. (It won't always be a color.) The linkup will open with the announcement of the category on the first of the month and stay open through the end of the month (Pacific Time Zone). There will be a second post with ten days left in the month as a reminder to linkup a finished project. And, of course, I'll share my project(s) for the category throughout the month.

You have a couple options for linking up. You can choose a previously finished project that fits the category to share. This can be a new or old blog post. Or you can use the category as a challenge to create something new, a month long challenge of sorts. And it's always appropriate to double dip and layer this challenge on top of some other challenge or project you are creating that month. This is for fun and community building. There won't be any sponsorship or prizes. Please view what others share and comment on their work to be an active participant in the community. I will feature a selection of the linked up projects in a future blog post at Sarah Goer Quilts.

This month, Show Me Something Purple! Happy Quilting. :-)

Please linkup a maximum of 3 new or old finished project posts that fit the theme! And be sure to link back to this post so others can find the linkup. Thanks!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. I just linked up and added you to my feedly. We're both leaving IB, so figured I needed to add you for REAL now :) I had a hard time finding the comment section here...
I'm curious about inlinks too does it cost money? I had another one I used to add but got tired of it.

You found me! Thanks for visiting, Bea. Inlinkz has a free level which supports a certain level of activity. I love that it helps connect with other quilt bloggers. Thanks for linking up!

  2. What a great idea, Sarah. I love to see how everyone interprets a theme. And, that purple fabric pull is awesome. I am looking forward to linking up. A few questions - Can we link up more than one post? Can we write a new blog post featuring all our past projects that fit the theme and link that up?

Thank you, Vasudha. Purple has been my favorite color for a long time, but I seem to make purple things or things that have no purple. You can linkup up to 3 posts. And a new purple project review of past projects post (wow, that's a lot of p's) sounds great! What a good idea.

Thanks for visiting, Frédérique. The theme won't always be a color, but there will be a diverse variety of themes throughout the year. :-)

There's a place for every color, but we all have our favorites. I certainly favor the cool colors. Orange and brown are the two most underutilized colors in my work. Thanks for visiting, Chris!

Hi Nancy. Thanks for asking. I've just added a form to sing up to receive my blog posts via email. You can find it under the photo of me (on the right sidebar if you're viewing on a computer, and way down at the bottom if you're on mobile.)

Thank you, Leanne. When I started blogging (6 years ago next week) you were one of the first people who I met online through your linkup. I'm excited for this new way for me to connect with the quilting community.
