In August we made flying geese for the Midnight Mystery Quilt, hosted by Cheryl at Meadow Mist designs. In September our task was to make 34 square in a square units. Here's a glimpse of what mine look like.
It's fun to see all my fabrics in the mix now. I'm loving the scrappy look. The pattern is based on using 4 fabrics or sets of fabrics. I chose for each set to be one color, but scrappy within each color. Everything was pulled from my stash. As you can see, my stash is heavy on blenders.
Today we get the new instructions for October. I can't wait to see what we're making next!
Hayley
I love how yours is coming together. I think it's going to look fabulous. I am a bit worried that I have too much variety within each colour but whatever. I'm sure it will come out fine. Mystery is hard!

Post authorThank you, Hayley. The only other mystery quilts I've done I only ever saw my own quilt. I'm excited to see what everyone else is doing for this one. Thanks for visiting!
Alison
Adorable! I am soooo ready for October's instructions!
sarah
Post authorThank you. I'm excited to get to October's instructions. And no bias edges! Yay for October!! I feel like these will go together SO much more quickly than the square in a square units. (Good thing, cause I haven't quite finished up the square in a square parts, so I'll be playing catch up.)

Oooh....loving those oranges!! I can't wait to see how all these blocks piece together. Just printed off October instructions.
sarah
Post authorI look forward to that part too. I had an initial guess about the overall design, but I think I'm wrong. Now to get some other deadlines finished so I can make my Courthouse Steps.
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl
I really like your color combination in these blocks, and I love that you are going scrappy within your color selections.
sarah
Post authorThank you, Yvonne. I generally stash fat quarters or half yards, and decided to go with what I had for this project. I'm really liking how it's coming together and look forward to seeing the full design emerge.
Lisa
It's good that your stash is full of blenders. These go so well together. I think your quilt will be awesome.
sarah
Post authorThank you, Lisa. That is the beauty of blenders... they play together very nicely.
Bernie @ Needle and Foot
I have never done a mystery quilt. I think it needs to be a goal for 2016.... Which will be here before you know it!
sarah
Post authorI love them. You should definitely try one! Thanks for visiting, Bernie.
Mel
You really chose a fabulous color palette, and I love the scrappy look! I can't wait to watch the progression from month to month as yours is going to look spectacular!
sarah
Post authorThank you, Mel! I'm loving it. I don't know what my plans are for this quilt, but I think it will be a hard one to part with. :-) I really love the bold colors you chose.
Cheryl
Beautiful blocks!
