Midnight Mystery Quilt: September Report

In August we made flying geese for the Midnight Mystery Quilt, hosted by Cheryl at Meadow Mist designs. In September our task was to make 34 square in a square units. Here's a glimpse of what mine look like.

It's fun to see all my fabrics in the mix now. I'm loving the scrappy look. The pattern is based on using 4 fabrics or sets of fabrics. I chose for each set to be one color, but scrappy within each color. Everything was pulled from my stash. As you can see, my stash is heavy on blenders.

Today we get the new instructions for October. I can't wait to see what we're making next!

  1. I love how yours is coming together. I think it's going to look fabulous. I am a bit worried that I have too much variety within each colour but whatever. I'm sure it will come out fine. Mystery is hard!

Thank you, Hayley. The only other mystery quilts I've done I only ever saw my own quilt. I'm excited to see what everyone else is doing for this one. Thanks for visiting!

Thank you. I'm excited to get to October's instructions. And no bias edges! Yay for October!! I feel like these will go together SO much more quickly than the square in a square units. (Good thing, cause I haven't quite finished up the square in a square parts, so I'll be playing catch up.)

I look forward to that part too. I had an initial guess about the overall design, but I think I'm wrong. Now to get some other deadlines finished so I can make my Courthouse Steps.

Thank you, Yvonne. I generally stash fat quarters or half yards, and decided to go with what I had for this project. I'm really liking how it's coming together and look forward to seeing the full design emerge.

Thank you, Mel! I'm loving it. I don't know what my plans are for this quilt, but I think it will be a hard one to part with. :-) I really love the bold colors you chose.
